Wait? What? Who are you?
Oh wait, it’s time for another Innovation Network Newsletter! Sorry… I’m just Aragorn’s Digital Twin, and as things stand, I’m far from perfect, not even close to my maker 😂😂 but getting there.
Anyway, Good to have you back! Ricardo and Aragorn had to do all the hard work this week, Patrick being on Holiday with the fam; you know.
So what we got for ya? Well… Remember that Unitree G1 Robot we discussed in Episode #2? Well, it’s on the market now… so me and Ricardo had a chat about why you shouldn’t kick those bad boys.
What if one day you wake up, and all technology stopped working? Well we got a little taste of what that might be like recently… If you ask me this might cause some slowing down in AI development. CrowdStrike reminded everyone how big the impact of some bad Code can be… now imagine what a runaway AI could do if it’s integrated everywhere…
Speaking about AI integration, models are getting smaller and smaller, and between Ricardo and me recording on Monday and now, Zuck has released a new Llama… ye no, not the spitting kind. This is one hell of a little model and the best part, you need 2 Macbooks, but only 1 normal PC (with a GPU) to run that bad boy…. anyway, we didn’t talk about it at all, so too bad for you, we did discuss the importance of smaller models though! So check that out.
As models get smaller, our hearts should be getting bigger. Ricardo and me discussed the importance of setting the right standard for Man & Machine interactions. Good Manners will help us with Good technology.
Finally, we discussed how AI is revolutionizing the Gaming industry and although perceived as a threat, is more likely an incredible opportunity!
So… without further.. oh wait!
I forgot, today the amazing guys, Alec and Jack, over at Untangling Web3 released their Podcast Episode “Untangling Humanity & Technology with Aragorn Meulendijks”
It’s an amazing episode! So make sure to check that out as well after you’re done with our Newsletter!

Robot Revolution: Your New Household Hero
Meet the Unitree G1, a humanoid robot from China, now available for just $16,000. Imagine owning a gadget that opens bottles, hammers nails, and might soon take over more household chores. It’s cheaper than a small car and as practical as an appliance!
This tech leap signifies more than convenience. As production scales, robots like the G1 could reshape our economy and daily lives. With Elon Musk’s Tesla robot set to launch next year at $30,000, the premium versions are still affordable.
The real game-changer? These robots might lead us towards Universal Basic Income (UBI). As AI and robots reduce the job market by 30-40%, everyone might own a robot, performing both household and professional tasks. This could transform our economic landscape, reducing poverty and enabling better decision-making, healthier lifestyles, and lower healthcare costs.
The future isn’t just for the elite—it’s for everyone.

Paradox of Technology: With Great power comes Great Existential Risk.
CrowdStrike's recent fiasco with a corrupted update wreaked havoc on critical infrastructure, highlighting the immense pressure on tech to be flawless. Imagine a world where one lousy update cripples every device globally! This isn't just a scare tactic; it underscores the risks of monopolies in tech. When one company dominates, a single failure can cascade into disaster.
Take Apple, for instance. Despite their boasts of errorless computing, their closed ecosystem could spell bigger trouble compared to the diverse, adaptable Windows environment. The key lesson? We need technological diversity to build a resilient digital world. Relying too heavily on one system or provider is a recipe for disaster.
As AI continues to evolve, it could revolutionize quality control, running simulations at lightning speed to prevent such mishaps. However, this also means hackers will up their game. The tech landscape is an ever-evolving cat and mouse game, so stay informed and stay safe.

AI Mini Marvels: Small Size, Huge Impact
Size matters in AI. Enter GPT-4o Mini, a pint-sized powerhouse that's transforming the landscape. Smaller models mean less computing power, lower costs, and big savings. GPT-4o Mini costs a mere $0.15 per million input tokens—talk about value!
This mini marvel runs on less powerful devices, making it accessible and energy-efficient. Imagine having top-tier AI on your phone without needing a supercomputer. It’s faster, greener, and keeps your data private.
Energy consumption for AI is dropping dramatically. Soon, you'll have advanced AI capabilities right in your pocket, without the cloud. Microsoft is integrating these models into Android, making powerful AI as common as your morning coffee.
The future of AI isn't just big—it’s compact, efficient, and everywhere.

Good Manners Matter.
An article on protecting workers' rights during the AI revolution raises a fair point: how do we ensure those less digitally apt don't get left behind? As AI advances, there’s a risk that some might struggle to keep up.
However, this issue might not be as dire as it seems. Consider the Rabbit R1 gadget, designed to assist with digital tasks like explaining complex digital IDs to you. It didn’t quite deliver, but it shows the potential of AI to bridge the digital divide.
With AI's growing contextual understanding, tools like smart glasses could soon assist anyone, regardless of tech savviness. Imagine landing at an airport and having AI guide you seamlessly, without the need of any prior input. This tech will become more accessible, ensuring no one is excluded from the digital future.
AI’s role is to assist and enhance human capability, making technology more intuitive and inclusive.

AI in Gaming: Faster vs. Better—Who Wins?
AI is shaking up the game development world, sparking concerns among developers about creativity being sacrificed for speed. Management at top studios are pushing for faster game production, but does faster mean better?
The fear is that AI might replace human creativity, but that’s not the full story. AI can assist artists, correcting strokes and speeding up mundane tasks, allowing creators to focus on what truly matters—their art. This doesn’t mean artists will vanish; they’ll adapt, leveraging AI to enhance their work, not replace it.
The gaming industry is shifting. Players demand quality over quantity. AI enables indie developers to create top-tier games with fewer resources, meeting this demand. The market will always have room for the human touch and AI efficiency, coexisting to push the boundaries of what's possible in gaming.
